What is M. C. Escher?
Maurits Cornelis was a Dutch artist and graphic designer who created woodcuts with mathematical inspiration, lithographs and mezzotints. Escher, despite his wide popularity, was neglected by the art world for much of his career, including in his home country, The Netherlands. Escher was already 70 when a retrospective was organized.
